PAMS Choral Department Brings Home the HardwareA huge CONGRATULATIONS goes out to the kids involved in the music department at the Phoenixville Area Middle School. Last Friday almost 250 PAMS students went to Hershey Pa to compete in the Music In The Park Competition. Not only did they perform brilliantly but the PAMS choir, band and orchestra kids brought home 11 trophies!

The Phoenixville Middle Vocal Ensemble won first place and earned a superior rating and also won overall best middle school choir. The 7th & 8th grade Competition Choir won first place and earned an outstanding rating.
The judges were impressed with the number of students in our groups and our attention to detail.

The Phoenixville Area Middle School Orchestra came in first place with an excellent rating.

The Phoenixville Middle School Band students won first place and earned Superior ratings. The Jazz Band and Symphonic Band were the top two scoring groups at the festival. Olin Zimmet won a special award as the outstanding jazz soloist as was awarded a medal in front of a cheering crowd at the Hershey Arena.

The judges remarked that the students played with sensitivity rare at the middle school level. The judges described the band’s playing as incredible and phenomenal—that the students play with great control and attention to detail.

The rest of the day was spent riding the rides at Hershey Park. A big thank you goes out to all of the parents who took the day off to chaperone and travel with us. Congratulations to the 8th graders moving up to the high school. We will miss them, but look forward to the music they will make in the years ahead.
