This is the image for the news article titled PASD Special Olympic ChampsThe Phoenixville Area School District is excited to announce that we had over 40 students attend the Special Olympics on May 27, 2016 in Coatesville, PA. The purpose of the Special Olympics is to provide opportunities for our students with intellectual disabilities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and build friendships with others.  They participated in events such as the 25 and 50 meter dash, tennis ball throw, javelin, shot-put, long jump and standing jump.  Lots of smiles, hugs and high-fives had by everyone.  Here are some reactions from the athletes.  Click here for more photos

“At the Special Olympics I threw the balls down the field really far.  I enjoyed running with all my friends”.

“My favorite part of about the Special Olympics was track and field.  I jumped far doing the long jump.  I threw balls really far”.

“My mom and dad came.  She packed snacks.  I was in the finish line.”

“Special Olympics was awesome.  I liked the track one because I won first place.”

“It was great.  It was good.”

“I was running and threw little balls.  I had a good time.”
